Fifth Foundation Day of PGI of Medical Education and Research at RML Hospital celebrated

New Delhi. The 5th Foundation Day of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Dr. RML Hospital was celebrated in New Delhi yesterday. ShriGhulamNabi Azad, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare was the Chief Guest. Ministers of State for Health & Family Welfare Shri S. Gandhiselvan and ShriAbu Hasem Khan Choudhury were Guests of Honour.

 

The Foundation Day celebrations began with a procession of all the Heads of the Departments of the Institute followed by the Chief Guest and other Guests of Honour. Shri Azad distributed Degrees to 34 PG Students of the Institute. 5 students of the Institute who topped in the University were felicitated with Trophies. ShriAzad, along with ShriGandhiselvan and ShriChoudhury also released the Annual Report of the Institute and the Annual Report of the Medical Education Technology Division of the PGIMER. 

 

While Dr. T. S. Sidhu, the former Medical Superintendent, Dr. RML Hospital and Director, PGIMER who superannuated on 31st January 2013 was felicitated, Dr. S. P. Aggarwal who was formerly Medical Superintendent and Director General and instrumental in the conceptualization and setting up of the Institute was presented with ‘Life Achievement Award’ by the Chief Guest. 

 

It may be mentioned that the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, which started functioning in the year 2008, has now 101 seats in PG Degree/ Diploma courses and 25 seats in Super Specialty courses. There are more than 150 Faculty Members. The courses are affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. All the teaching departments in the PGIMER have added new faculty members and a number of new departments in the core disciplines like Anatomy, Physiology, PSM, Forensic Medicine, Biochemistry have been created.
