Tamil Perayam releases books in Tamil and English

Chennai: Tamil perayam an out fit of the SRM University today released 7 books published by it at its Kattankulathur campus.  Retired Justice Mr P R Gokulakrishnan President of the Tamil Isai Sangam, was the chief guest.
Dr M Ponnavaikko Vice Chancellor SRM University in his address detailed about the activities of the Tamil Perayam and thanked the patron Dr T R Pachamuthu for his genrous contributions to the Tamil world. According to researchers, Tamil is the root language for various international languages like Latin, Chinese, Korean etc., and now people call the Tamil Language has emanated from Sanskrit.
He also said that the Tamil Perayam is planning to release more rare Tamil works by various litterateurs including the Maruthava Agaraathi which would be released shortly.
Dr T R Pachamuthu, Chancellor SRM University who is also the patron of the Tamil Perayam in his address said that SRM University is well known for Engineering Medicine streams and now it is becoming slowly known for propagating Tamil language.
Anointing the Vice chancellor Dr M Ponnavaiko   to be president emeritus of the Tamil Perayam he added that the Tamil Perayam should grow to leaps and bounds. He further added that Tamil Perayam would be called as 5th Tamil Sangam by the future generation. He also advised that Tamil Perayam should launch a Tamil Magazine to kindle the creative literary thoughts among the youth.
Honouring Thiru Muthukrishnan of South Africa a person of Indian Origin   who has his roots in Tiruvannamalai District over 150 years before said that Tamil language unites people from every where and I am proud to honour him.
Congratulating Dr Daniel Selvaraj  who was accorded the Sahithya Acadamy award for his Tamil book 'THOL' which depicts the pathetic lifestyle of the workers of the leather industry he said that more such literary works should be honoured and hoped that Tamil Perayam would become a bigger alternative to Sahithya Acadamy in future.
Releasing the books Justice P R Gokulakrishnan said that I am happy that the Tamil feeling is inborn in Dr T R Pachamuthu and feel elated that Tami Perayam is doing a wonderful work in the Tamil field of Tamil literature.
He also noted that the Tamil Perayam is doing yomen service to the society by introducing the Tamil Diploma courses for Odhuvars and Aruchanaivars and hoped to see that M A Tamil and M Phil Tamil is launched by the University.
Lamenting the status of  Tamil Literature among the young generation today, Justice Gokulakrishnan said more youth should be drawn to read Tamil books and congratulated the idea of launching Tamil Magazine to draw the youth.
The books released were Tholkappiar kaattum kudumbam - Dr Ira Ilangkumaranar, Tholkaapiar vilakkum thirumanapporuththam - Thamizhannal, Tholkappiyaththil veera nilaikkaala echangal - Ku Ve Balasubramanian, Ondre ulagam - Thaninayaga Adigal,  all in Tamil.
The books written in English  were Studies in Classical Tamil Literature - Dr S N Kandaswamy, Paththuppaattu - Dr A Dakshnamurthy, Ainkurunuru Vol 1 - Dr S N Kandaswamy.
Dr T P Ganesan Pro Vice Chancellor ( Planning ) and Dr P Thangaraj Pro Vice Chancellor Medical  S R M University  received the first copy of the books.  Prof N Sethuraman Registrar, SRM University felicitated the authors on the occasion.
